MASTER STORY

Legend of Korean Golf, Pak Se-ri.

Pak Se-ri, the first Asian to win the LPGA Championship, is a World Golf Hall of Fame inductee and a pioneer in the history of Women's golf.

By winning the 1998 U.S. Women's Open in a dramatic reversal through her so-called barefoot fighting spirit, she surpassed star status and became a national hero who inspired dreams and hope.

“Golf Empress” Pak Se-ri, whose name alone brings to mind her prodigious ability and influence in inspiring others, set various records such as 5 LPGA major championships, a total of 25 wins in LPGA Tour, and six wins in six playoffs.

After a 20-year career as an exemplary golfer, she retired in 2016, and she is now training new talent.

Through ViBLE, Pak Se-ri generously shares her basic skills that have brought prestige to Korea, lessons she has learned in the U.S., and all her know-how based on her experience with top LPGA golfers.

Pak Se-ri's class is the best-golfing learning resource for aspiring golfers, people who want to experience the joy of golf, and people like you, who want to go beyond just being an amateur to gain some skills from a legend.

Q & A

Q. What should Beginners be aware of when playing golf?

The most common mistake that first-time golfers make comes from their impatience to rush to play a round of golf. Without having mastered the basic posture, they only learn to play "petty trick golf" that only focuses on minimizing the number of strokes. In my experience, winning does not simply mean reducing the number of miss shots, but it is about avoiding fatal miss shots.

Q. People usually use a number 1 driver for driver tee shots. Then when is a number 3 wood used?

Professional golfers have the Golf course Management strategy so, instead of using the conventional driver, they will often hit tee shots using a number 3 wood, hybrid, or iron. I will now show how to use a number 3 wood, which I have also used quite frequently due to its accuracy. Because the clubhead size of wood is smaller than that of the driver, you may think it is more difficult to use. However, if you get familiar with a number 3 wood, it is easier to use than a driver and, it has uses in various situations. (Please watch the Class video)

Q. Is there any secret to hitting well in the long iron distance?

Generally speaking, most amateurs struggle to use the long iron club as their head is very sharp and require accuracy. These days, clubs have been designed to make it easier to hit than iron and have a smaller clubhead than a wood, known as the Utility club. Just like you would do with any other clubs, you should decide the target, stand in front of a golf ball, see the direction in which you will hit it, take a stance, hold the grip, and then hit aiming the target spot. If there is at least one thing you can count on in the field where you are battling with yourself, it will ease your mind, correct? That is where hybrids come in. (Please watch the Class video)

Q. Do you have any messages to those who are taking 'Pak Se-ri's Golf Class' in hopes of improving their skills to play like a Pro?

I have found one rule while spending half my life on the golf course. That is, "stick to the basics for technique, but be bold when you need to make choices." Challenge armed with boldness comes with a reward.
