Q & A

Q. What is special about this class?

Like all other sports, it is important to work on your stamina and fundamentals. But I’m not going to focus on those basics here. You can find so many lessons on basic training, racket grip, and terms on the internet, and it’s easy to learn from those. So, I'd like to share my own tips and techniques.

Q. What does it mean to practice smart?

“Practice smart” means using your strengths to your advantage. Rather than working on your weakness, you have to maximize your innate talent. You will lose out on your strengths if you focus too much on your weaknesses, and that is fatal to players. You should focus on your strengths. It is necessary to improve your weakness but not at the cost of your strengths.

Q. What would you like to say to those experiencing a slump?

When I experienced a slump, I realized this. A slump is a sign that you worked really hard. If you did not work hard, you wouldn't even feel that you are in a slump. When you overcome your slump, you realize how much you’ve grown. It gives you the confidence that you can overcome challenges, no matter how tough they are. Don't confuse a slump with failure. A slump is a growing pain. Don't be afraid of slumps. If you don't give up and work hard, you will realize how much it made you grow and become a better player.

Q. What are your plans for the future?

That is winning another gold medal. I want to show you the techniques I've demonstrated in this lesson in an Olympic game. And become a player with two gold medals. By doing so, I want to gain more experience and knowhow which I can share again with you.
